On Friday, with Photography we went to the Saatchi Gallery and other small galleries. This helped with inspiration and influences for us with our own projects. We looked at a mixture of street photography, (candid) and interesting art pieces that had a lot of meaning behind. The trip gave me in an insight to different art works, and what other photographers/artists are creating, which helped me with my ideas and what kind of compositions of work I could include and experiment with. The best part of the day, I have to admit was randomly meeting Dan & Phil from Youtube! Danisnotonfire & AmazingPhil. Heard of them? You should!
Youtube stars! Also, are on the radio now! Radio 1. Alaa, Salma and myself got to meet them! :') It was such a random lovely experience! The trip made my weekend, thanks Holly.

Paris!
My experience, of visiting Paris. The city of love and culture.
Thanks to Holly, our photography class, (AS & A2) were able to visit Paris, and stay for 3 days and 2 nights. I have to say, that I'm extremely happy that I went. I was able to see such a beautiful city, but also capture moments there with my camera.
We were able to explore on our own; searching and finding inspiration from the town we were in. We stayed in a hostel called Plug-Inn. On the first day, a few friends and myself went exploring.
We found Moulin Rouge! It was built in 1889 by Joseph Oller close to the Paris district of Pigalle. It is marked by the red windmill on its roof. Moulin Rouge is best known as the spiritual birthplace of the modern form of the can-can dance. Originally introduced as a seductive dance, however today it's a tourist attraction. It was great to see, the atmosphere around was so lively, and bright. I had a jolly evening with my friends. - 15th November.
EIFFEL TOWER
The streets, buildings in Paris are beautiful. I fell in love with them. I can’t ignore one of the things, I loved aboutParis . The amazing
architecture and history of the buildings and monuments. It reminds me of romantic movies.
PARIS PHOTO
Paris Photo was created in 1996 and is the most prestigious art fair dedicated to historical and contemporary photography. I would describe Paris Photo; as a maze of art. We saw photographs, from different photographers. They inspired me, and helped with ideas for my current photography project.

EIFFEL TOWER
We all went to see the Eiffel Tower the next day. I was shocked by the size of the Eiffel Tower!
The tower stands 320 metres (1,050 ft) tall!
We stayed under the Eiffel Tower, for about 3-4 hours until it got dark and then......
LIGHTS <3
When they turned the lights on, everyone around cheered. Devinya, and I sat under the Eiffel Tower and spoke for hours. It was beautiful; it gave off such a lovely atmosphere. Even though I was freezing, I was glad that I was there. Sitting there, watching, observing, thinking, laughing as the lights flashed, lighting up our evenings.
ARC DE TRIOMPHE!

Week two: Tate Modern.
It was my first time at the Tate Modern today. I really enjoyed it; I regret not going before hand. It was great to recognise art work, from different artists. I found it really inspiring, and I'll definitely go again to get inspired for future art work. A few friends and myself went around looking around at different pieces of art from paintings, videos and conceptual art.
As we walked in, we were drawn to a sound of synchronised sounds. It sounded quite "angelic". It was very different but rather beautiful. We were intrigued to stop and listen to the voices and to watch them from above. I could see a mixture of young and older people. Some sitting, some standing but all of them with the same sounds. Even though I couldn't see much; it was quite crowded I felt like they were trying to communicate something. It had meaning, and I was interested to find out. After a while, they started running around, chasing each other. Some were running backwards, and skipping.
I couldn't help but to research what it was about: They constructed a piece through human interaction, movement and sound. It was about transformation over a period of time, and the process of continuous change. We then went upstairs.
We came across different pieces of art from various artists. Some were really interesting and eye-catching. While some others were really different, and quite confusing. But the meaning were quite fascinating. The definition allowed me to understand the work of art. It's not about the look of it, but about the meaning behind it. We came across a short film, made with puppets by Kara Walker. 'The Keys to the Coop'. At college, I'm looking at dolls and puppets. I'm going to research Kara Walker's work and perhaps use similar compositions and ideas to my art work.
I'm really glad I went to the Tate, and I recommend everyone to go. :')

Week one: The British Museum.
The wider world project begins with: The British Museum.
This project has encouraged to me to explore new places, and
become more active. The project offers a different activity which starts with
The British Museum. I plan to attend all the activities, it'll be fun, I'll be
able to take photographs, and I feel that it's allowing me to explore as
an individual. Also, I'll receive a certificate at the end. :)
Today, a few
friends and myself went to The British Museum. It’s been years since I last
went, but going again was great! They provide so much information, about other
countries and the history it holds. You can't walk out without knowing
something new, it’s impossible. We first saw, the Rosetta Stone. The Rosetta
Stone, which is housed in the British
Museum , is a black slab
with three languages on it (Greek, demotic and hieroglyphs) each saying the
same thing. It's so interesting, how this stone has been preserved and revealed to the world.
We also came across Mummies!
I've always found mummies, and sacrifice
really fascinating. Every one of the British Museum's mummies was once a living, breathing
Egyptian's going about their everyday life - working, eating, sleeping, getting
ill, spending time with their family. Studying these people's mummies tells us
a lot about their lives. It explained mummification with diagrams of the
process. It was quite weird, to see the bodies and how they decayed.
We also came across the statue of
Ramesses II, the 'Younger Memnon'. We then explored different cultures and
countries as we went along. We came across different clothes, masks, and
traditions. We also ended up having a deep conversation about the Greeks. There
were a few sculptures; which portrayed men and woman fighting. We spoke about
sexism and how woman are portrayed in the media and stereotypical domestic
views. It allowed us to think about the past, and question if they were
rebelling but also think about how things are in the present. Do we still face
sexism?
After an hour and a half, we went to the garden outside the
museum. I was able to take photos of the different flowers, it was quite nice.
:) I'm glad I went. It was really good, I don't know why it took me so long to
visit.
